If you like Chinese food then you must go to Shanghai Dumpling King when in San Francisco. It’s serious Shanghainese food with a focus on dumplings and everything is scratch made. It is located in the Outer Richmond Neighborhood on Balboa. There is a second location too but I haven’t been. This area is cool. Close to the beach and Goldengate Park. Be aware that this place is a real dive and they don’t serve booze but you can bring your own. I love that. I could not stop eating the Shrimp and Spicy Chive Dumplings. Amazing!
I Love Ramen
I love ramen. So I figure that Japantown in San Francisco has to have some good ramen joints. Waraku is one of them. Nothing fancy here but this place is tasty.
I Love A Good Chicago Style Hot Dog Joint
Being born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I love a good Chicago Style hot dog joint. The Chicago area is full of them which is a wonderful thing. I grew up in Highland Park and Michael’s opened up when I was in high school and I worked there for 3 years. Great place. The dogs and burgers were excellent and their Cheddar Fries were special because they used Merkts Cheese. So good! And if you want to be healthy, they have a very good salad bar. Love this place.
Upper Crust Bagels Is Top Notch Jewish Deli
I love a good Jewish Deli and they are not easy to find so when I come across one I make sure to go back whenever I am near by. Deerfield is a northern suburb of Chicago and it is home to Upper Crust Bagels. This is not a sit down joint and their lox, bagels and cream cheese are fresh and excellent. I love the pickles too. So I order it all up and take it to where I am staying and prepare it myself. So good!
Hey, Longmont, Colorado Has A Pretty Damn Good Pizza Joint
Longmont, Colorado is a cool little town near Boulder and Denver and has undergone a bit of a boom over the last 10 years. There has been lots of renovation and new restaurants are popping up. Rosalee’s is one of them. It’s a pizza joint and they have a great beer selection and often there is live music. The pizza was quite excellent.
Harry’s Continental Kitchen Is Simply Fantastic
On the little key off of Sarasota, Florida is Longboat Key. It’s small and low key and on this key is the hidden gem, Harry’s. Harry is the owner/chef and he is a Wisconsin transplant. In addition to his restaurant he has a deli across the street that has killer takeout food and excellent sandwiches and burgers. It’s more casual than the restaurant. And next door he took over a minimart and it is filled with all kinds of gourmet goodies. Amazing.
The restaurant is more upscale and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s top notch with lots of fresh seafood. I had the Grouper Tacos. Out of this world!
Location Location Location. Sandbar Delivers
I love a fresh Grouper Sandwich so when I am on the Gulf side of Florida that is what I am looking for. Sandbar is on Anna Maria Island, about an hour south of Tampa. It is a very laid back key and this place is right on the beach so if you sit outside then your table is in the sand. Nothing fancy. And the Grouper Sandwich is excellent. Love this place.
Farmhouse Kitchen Is The Place To Go For Thai In San Francisco
I am telling you, this place is fantastic! Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine is located in the Mission Neighborhood of San Francisco. I love the Mission. It’s gritty, artsy and full of life. Some of the best Thai food I have had anywhere. Tasty curries, street food and the tasty dish below which is a must. Hat Yai Fried Chicken: Thai Southern style, Mary’s organic chicken breast, turmeric & herbs, fried shallots roti bread, potato yellow curry for dipping and rice. SO GOOD! And I love the blue rice.
Rick and Ann’s Is A Staple In Oakland
If you are in Oakland/Berkeley and in the mood for breakfast then head over to Rick & Ann’s. I have been going here for years and it never disappoints. It’s casual, simple, fresh and good. Everything is scratch made.
Outerlands Is Just Cool
Outerlands is in the Outer Sunset Neighborhood of San Francisco. Super cool area. It’s a few blocks from the ocean. Feels like a beach town yet you are in the city of San Fran. It’s just cool. And this place has a great vibe. Not fancy at all but very warm and rustic. The food and cocktails are fantastic. They have their own bakery in the back and this little Strawberry Coffee Cake was incredible as was the rest of my breakfast. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I am guessing it is all good. Love this place.
