Cherry Circle Room is the reinvention of the iconic restaurant of the same name that has serviced the Chicago Athletic Association and its members for generations. The intimate, James Beard award-winning space (‘Outstanding Restaurant Design’) has been fully restored. This building has now been turned into a hotel and everything about it is cool. I love this restaurant. The vibe is swanky with low lighting and lots of wood and the food and cocktails are delicious. Of course I had to get the Cheeseburger and fries. And this place is right across the street from Millennium Park on Michigan Ave. Great part of the city.
Xoco Is A Great Mexican Street Food Joint
Rick Bayless is well known Chicago for his authentic Mexican restaurants. Frontera Grill put him on the map. It is still great and more on the formal side. Around the corner is Xoco. This is a counter serve Mexican Street Food joint with excellent food and beers. Much more casual and very tasty!
Chicago Knows Deep Dish Pizza
No place and I mean no place does deep dish pizza like Chicago and Lou Malnati’s is one of the best. Lou is all over the city and the burbs. I went to the one in Lincoln Square. Really fun spot and close to Wrigley Field. Great place to go before or after a Cubs game. Heaven!
Shake Shack Is A Tasty Burger
Yes, I love a good burger. It’s true. And Shake Shack is definitely good. It’s quick too. They are popping up all over the country. It started out in New York City. It is the brain child of famous restauranteur, Danny Meyer, and it recently went public so I am sure we will be able to eat there all over the country soon. This one is in Chicago inside the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel on Michigan Ave. Super cool hotel. I am a fan of the Double Cheeseburger with Fries. Sometimes I get two! Yum.
I Love A Good Farm To Table Mexican Joint
First of all, when a restaurant is BYOB, it’s a good sign. To me it means that there is a certain funkiness to the place and they are usually super focused on the food. Plus you can bring your own bottle of wine and save money. Chilam Balam is a BYOB farm to table Mexican joint on the north side of Chicago, not to far from Wrigley Field and it is really good. Everything is fresh and the food is creative and tasty. I love the atmosphere too. The Mahi Mahi Ceviche with habanero, tomato, cucumber and fresh lime was excellent!
Ummmm…..These Are Good
If you want a really good Cinnamon Roll then head to Ann Sathers when in Chicago. These are serious and well worth the gut bomb you will feel after you eat it. That’s all I have to say about that.
One Of The Best Burgers Around. Period.
I love Charlie Beinlich’s. This place is truly a joint. Nothing fancy here but they have been around forever and whenever I am in Chicago I head here for the Shrimp and Crabmeat Cocktail and a Burger. Outstanding! And this place is just full of character. My kind of place. Enjoy.
Hot Doug’s Has Killer Hotdogs And They Are Back
Hot Doug’s was a legendary hot dog joint on the north side of Chicago. Owned and run by Doug who I actually went to jr. high school with. People lined up for these amazing dogs. Doug was a character and the place was only open if he was there. So when he decided he was done he closed it down. People were bummed. Then a couple years ago Hot Doug’s reappeared in the right field bleachers of Wrigley Field. Crazy and crazy good. So go to a Cub game and get one of these dogs because they rock. But here is the deal. You have to get a seat in the bleachers to get there. It’s the only way. Enjoy.
I love A Good Biscuit
Rise & Shine Biscuit Kitchen is a casual spot in the Sloan’s Lake Neighborhood of Denver. It’s a counter serve joint and everything is scratch made and they have tasty beers too. It’s open 7am-8pm everyday. I love a good biscuit, especially when you can put an egg and cheese in it. Check it out.
Ricon Argentino Has Real Deal Empanadas
If it’s scratch made and authentic, I will eat it. Ricon Arentino in Boulder, Colorado is serving up tasty Argentinian Food. It’s a local counter serve joint and I love the empanadas. They have all kinds and you can even buy then uncooked by the box and take them home and cook them. I had the Carne Picante. Spicy steak | onions | peppers | green olives | spices. So good!
