Onefold is really a great little find. It is just east of downtown. It’s small, quaint, counter service and the food and pastries are amazing and I am told the coffee is great too. Fresh ingredients cooked up right. I had the Congee. Savory rice porridge cooked in chicken stock, duck confit, poached egg, green onions, soy sauce, salted ginger and chili oil. Sounds weird. Crazy good! They also serve lunch. Love this place.
Sweet Cow Is Some Tasty Ice Cream
I am not a huge sweets person. If I am going to be bad then it’s usually going to be greasy, salty, cheesy stuff. But I do love a hot fudge sundae and I had a great one at Sweet Cow in Boulder, CO. So good. All the ice cream is made in house and they are growing with 6 stores in the Boulder/Denver area and an ice cream truck. Check it out if you are in the area.
Piece Pizza In Chicago Is Pretty Special
Chicago is famous for it’s deep dish pizza and if you find the right place it is pretty good. But that said, it is still a gut bomb. Piece Pizza in the hip neighborhood of Wicker park in Chicago is serving up killer thin crust pizza. Man is this place good. And they have an exceptional beer list and lots of TVs to watch sports. Plus, some nights they have live music. I love this place.
Dove’s Luncheonette Is Just Plain Cool
Wicker Park is such a cool neighborhood in Chicago. So many great places to eat and Dove’s Luncheonette is one of them. It’s Tex-Mex diner eats plus cocktails & lots of tequila in a cool retro setting. The place is little and swanky and it’s all counter seats. So cool. I had the Avocado Toast. Multi grained bread schmeared with avocado, topped with red onion, kumquats, baby kale and lemon-jalapeno vinaigrette. So good.
The Bongo Room Dishes Out Real Deal Breakfast
There are three Bongo Rooms in the city. I went to the one in Wicker Park. Very cool neighborhood of Chicago. What a great meal. Everything in here is scratch made using fresh ingredients. I had the Tomatillo Salsa Scramble. Three egg whites scrambled with grilled chicken, baby spinach and topped with diced avocado. Tasty. They serve lunch and brunch on the weekends as well. Great spot.
Chai Pani Serves Up Indian Street Food & It’s Good
I have always liked Indian food but had Indian Street Food. In Fact, I never knew it existed until I went to Chai Pani in downtown Asheville. What a treat. This place was so successful they have opened two more in Atlanta. They have all sorts of yummy small plates and homestyle platters. I had the Tandoori Fish Wrap.
Tilapia seared with tandoori spices in a griddled wrap (brushed w/ egg) with onions, cilantro, rice, roasted lentils & chutneys. Really good.
French Broad Chocolates Real Deal
Chocolate is not chocolate. When in Asheville visit the French Broad Chocolate Factory or the French Broad Chocolate Lounge. They are chocolate specialists using carefully sourced beans to create truffles, bars & other sweets. Really amazing. You can tour the factory or hang out in the lounge and have a good ol’ time.
Hands Down Best Mexican Food In Asheville
Taqueria Munoz is in a little strip mall off a busy street in Asheville. One could easily drive by and not notice. In fact, when I told some local friends about the amazing lunch I had, none of them had heard of it. This place is so so good. Nothing fancy but everything is scratch made, super fresh and very authentic. I had the Chicken Taco and Beef Tamale. Love this place.
Curate is Tapas Done Right
Asheville North Carolina is a great food town and a great beer town. And for food, Curate should be at the top of your list. It’s a Spanish style tapas joint right in the heart of downtown and it truly is one of the best restaurants in town. But at the same time it is not fancy. Great casual atmosphere with killer food. Pictured are the mushrooms and meatballs. Yum.
Sunny Point Is My Go To Breakfast Joint In Asheville
There are a handful of good breakfast joints in Asheville but I always end up at Sunny Point Cafe. Everything is scratch made and most ingredients are organic. They even have their own garden out back. I really love this place. And it is in West Asheville on Haywood Street. One of my favorite parts of town. It is also open for lunch and dinner. Pictured are the Huevos and the Grilled Cheese.
