Some of the best food is in a hole in the wall kind of place. Yankee Lobster in the Seaport area of Boston is just that. What a great joint right on the water. The food is super fresh. I had the Lobster Roll and Fries and was super happy. Nothing fancy here. Have a great time.
B&G Oysters Is A Boston Favorite
Now this is a Lobster Roll. B & G Oysters is a casual and very well run seafood joint in the South End neighborhood of Boston. This is a Barbara Lynch Joint and all her places are quite good. I love this place and I love the South End.
Neptune Oyster Is One Of The Best
Tucked in Boston’s North End, which is way cool, is one of the best seafood joints I have been to anywhere. Neptune Oyster. Just go. It’s a must. It’s on a cool little street in a killer neighborhood. It’s small, cozy and the seafood is fresh and outrageous. We feasted on Stone Crabs, Oysters, Octopus and Clam Chowder. Crazy good and fun. But they don’t take rezys. Open for lunch and dinner. We got there for lunch a half hour before it opened to be sure to get seats.
Simple & Good
When in Boston hit up Flour Bakery & Cafe. There are 4 of them around town and their baked goods are amazing and so are their sandwiches. I had the egg sandwich. Very good. Same owners as Myers + Chang. Amazing Chinese food and one of my favorite spots in town.
Garlic ‘n Lemons Is A Killer Hole In The Wall Joint
Oh man is this place good. Garlic ‘n Lemons is a Middle Eastern joint in Allston which is basically a part of Boston. Nothing fancy here. It’s counter service and nothing hip about this place but it’s family run and everything is scratch made with great ingredients. I had the Chicken Shawerma Combo. SO GOOD! I will be back.
Maketto In DC Is A Special Place
Maketto is a Cambodian – Taiwanese joint in a funky alive area of DC. And the restaurant itself is so cool. Super hip with indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a coffee shop in there and a clothes shop. Super cool and the food is amazing. Absolutely incredible. Please go! Pictured is the Pork Steamed Bao, Wok Fried Chinese Broccoli and Maketto Fried Chicken & Bread. UNREAL!!!
Rose’s Luxury Is Really Good
In the Barracks Row area of DC (which is cool) is Rose’s Luxury. Incredibly tasty menu in a converted townhouse. There is always pasta on the menu. Upstairs there is a cool bar and you can belly up to it and eat off the full menu. Love this place.
Room 11 Is A Great Neighborhood Joint
Washington DC is a great city filled with great neighborhoods which I love because they have character, they’re not touristy and filled with great local joints. Columbia Heights is one of those neighborhoods and they have a great joint called Room 11. It’s a casual joint with killer food, like the Pork Belly, and amazing cocktails, wine and beer. Loved it!
Brider Is Serving Up Great Sandwiches
Denver’s food scene is exploding and there is a cool little area by the ball park called Platte Park. It’s just a couple blocks long and a happening scene. This is where Brider is. It’s a hip place and it’s counter service. They have great beers, cocktails and killer sandwiches. I had the Chicken Bahn Mi Sandwich and it was delicious. I will be back.
Blackbelly in Boulder Is New and Excellent
Blackbelly Market is a new joint in town and is top notch. Great place for dinner serving up killer food and tasty craft cocktails. They are way into their meats. They take it seriously and it shows. The pasta with slow cooked beef and steak tartare were outstanding. And next door they have a market open for breakfast and lunch making killer breakfast burritos and sandwiches. Outstanding! And you can buy cuts of meat to cook at home too. The owner/chef, Hosea Rosenberg, won Top Chef a few years ago. Check it out!
