San Francisco is such a great food town. Tons of amazing joints. The Progress is in the Lower Pacific Heights Neighborhood which is hip and fun. It is the sister restaurant to State Bird Provisions which sits right next door and very popular. The Progress is farm to table and the food is served family style. Super fresh and tasty and the atmosphere is quant in this small cozy place. The pork dish pictured was ridiculous!
The Sink has been a Boulder Establishment for a long long time. It is in an area call The Hill which is right by Colorado University. It has always been a fun dive bar with fun atmosphere and average food. But a few years ago they got a new chef and the food is excellent. Fantastic burgers and pizzas and a great choice of beers. I am a big fan of the Buddha Basil Pizza. Pesto-marinara sauce topped with fresh basil, artichoke hearts, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, tofu and mozzarella on seasoned crust. But I swap of the tofu for chicken. And remember to ask for honey to put on the ends of the crust. Love it!
Owl Bakery is in a small quaint house in the hip West Asheville neighborhood of Asheville, NC and it is delicious. I really like this place.There are a couple tables, it’s very chill and the food is fresh and tasty. Yet another great place to go in Asheville.
I good cinnamon roll is a good thing. I love them and West End Bakery and Cafe makes them fresh daily and are excellent. And even better is that this joint is in Asheville, NC. One of my favorite places on earth. Check it out.
Bull and Beggar is in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC next to the Wedge Brewing Co. which is a wonderful local beer joint. Both these places are right on the river and Bull and Beggar has an amazing vibe and the food, beer and cocktails are just as amazing. Lots of great seafood and meats with a very creative menu. But being a sucker for a great cheeseburger, I like to go on Mondays which is the only day they serve them. Delicious!
Mela is a wonderful Indian restaurant in downtown Asheville, NC. One of my favorite places to eat, drink and hangout. I like to go to Mela for lunch. They are open for dinner too but for lunch they have a wonderful buffet and Indian buffets are the best! Great spot. Enjoy.
I don’t go out for breakfast much but when I do it better be good. Pig & A Jelly Jar in Salt Lake City is good. It is open for lunch and dinner too (Thus-Sun) but I can’t comment on that. But I loved my breakfast. Creole Pork Belly Benedict. Braised and shredded local pork belly, two poached eggs, with baked beans and kale, topped with tomato creole sauce, served over two biscuits with a side of breakfast potatoes. Excellent and this little joint has a nice vibe.
Oh yes. I am a sucker for a good burger. I am! And the bigger the dive, the better. Salt Lake City has a few. I have been a long time fan of Lucky 13. And the Cotton Bottom Inn has been on my list for a while and it did not disappoint. Total hole in the wall dive bar with a pool table, beer and tasty burgers. It is an experience.
Tucked away in downtown Provo, Utah is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in the country, Communal. This is a wonderful farm-to-table joint. It’s a small, cozy, casual place with a great atmosphere and excellent service. Their beer and wine list is exceptional but it is the food that steals the show. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. I went with a group of 7 and we ordered a bunch of food and shared it all! Below is the farm pork meatballs, tomato sauce, pecorino romano and the cornbread with jalapeño honey butter . So good! Love this place.
I love a good burger and even better when it is in a funky old joint. In the mountains outside of Salt Lake City in the tiny town of Kamas is Hi Mountain. It’s a general store with a food counter and some kick butt burgers. That’s really all you need to know and that the people are nice and friendly as heck! Love this place.
