In the heart of the Deboce Triangle Neighborhood of San Francisco is Churchill. This is a cool, casual place in a neat area of the city serving classic cocktails (some in mason jars) & lots of brews in a comfy, roomy space inspired by WWII era. I took my son and a couple of his buddies there. I would go back!
I had a great lunch at The Lunch Box in Stinson Beach. Stinson Beach is a beautiful coastal town in Marin County in the Bay Area. I went on a hike with my son and some work colleagues from Muir Woods to Stinson Beach. Great 5 mile hike that took us to The Lunch Box which is a tasty deli steps from the ocean. I had the Salmon Po Boy and it was delicious. Everything there is scratch made and it just made us all silly as you can see below. Or maybe it was the 5 mile hike back!
I had the best time at The Ramen Shop in the very cool Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland. I learned of this amazing Japanese joint on the internet show, Chef’s Night Out. I took my Bay Area clinical team here and we got the big table in the back that is semi private and we had a blast. They have excellent cocktails and they take their food seriously. The White Shrimp and Pork Fried Rice was out of this world and the Hokkaido Miso Ramen with ground pork belly, shoyu-marinated egg, King Richard leeks, braised brussel sprouts, baby bok choy,and red cabbage was ridiculous! This place has the atmosphere going too. I will go back here many times!
When in San Francisco, if you don’t mind a neighborhood that has a little grit, then head to Saigon Sandwich in The Tenderloin. This little walk-in joint has amazing Banh Mi sandwiches. On Yelp they have a 4.5 star rating from 2644 people. That says it all. And better yet a sandwich is $3.75. Cash only. This is real deal folks. Incredible!
I was recently out in Oakland and had dinner with my friend and colleague, Vania , and had a great meal at Homestead on Piedmont Ave. which is a fun area. It is a very small and intimate restaurant that has a great homey feel. It’s Farm to Table at its best. The food was great and they have a wonderful wine and beer selection. Fun and delicious night.
Zona Rosa is a little gem right in downtown swanky Los Gatos. I went there for lunch and had a refreshing ice tea and the Blue Corn Enchiladas with sweet potatoes and cheese. So fresh and so good! I am told their cocktails are great as well. When I go back for dinner I will find out:).
Lolo is yet another great place to eat The Mission in San Francisco. Excellent non-traditional Mexican cuisine and fun, tasty drinks. And the atmosphere is lot’s of fun as there is so much cool stuff on the walls to see. I loved it!
First of all, I love San Francisco and The Mission is one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. It’s gritty, full of life with excellent food and drink. Beretta is in the heart of The Mission and is just excellent. I went with my friend and colleague, Alexis. They have craft cocktails which were tasty. We didn’t eat but the food looked delicious and I loved the atmosphere. Dark, cozy, festive and loud. We bellied up to the bar and had a great time.
I had a great lunch at Poggio Trattoria in Sausalito last week. A great spot to hit as I was heading out of San Fran up to Marin. I had the Margherita Pizza and it was excellent!
Play is in the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. This is one of the nicest hotels on the planet yet in the winter, which is off season, it has great deals. Recently they put in a bowling alley that has a restaurant called Play. First of all, the bowling alley is a blast. 8 lanes and the nicest one I have ever been in. They have a very impressive beer list and the food is fun and tasty. I had the Korean Hot Dog with kim-chi and pulled pork on it. Just what I needed at midnight:). Super fun, super good!
