Whiskey Street in Salt Lake is serving up some great food and fancy cocktails in a great atmosphere in downtown Salt Lake City. I had the Short Rib Polenta Poutine. Whoa! Super cool place. Very happenin. Then I headed to a Salt Lake Bees AAA baseball game. Great night!
In Salt Lake City there is a small fast food chain serving great Mexican food. It’s Cafe Rio and it is great. There are only 3 of them. Don’t over look them because the food is super fresh and tasty. I had the pork burrito and it was real deal and huge! I was grateful to some friends and colleagues that turned me on to this place.
I love Park City, Utah. And I love to eat in Park City. The Riverhorse is right on Main St, downtown which is a fun area and the food is excellent and the seafood is as fresh as it gets. Yes, even in land locked Utah. It’s upscale and not cheap but they deliver. I had the halibut which was out of control. My buddy had the surf and turf which is pictured and the salads were great. Elegant spot.
Had a great breakfast at the Hub & Spoke Diner in the Sugarhouse Neighborhood of Salt Lake. Really cool area and this place has a tasty Breakfast Banh Mi sandwich with braised short ribs. Really good. This joint is open day and night. They serve alcohol, has a good vibe and great service.
Boulder is filled with good sushi joints and Hapa is another one to add to the list. They also have a great bar in the back to enjoy a drink while you wait or sit up at the bar and eat. And it is right on the Pearl Street Mall downtown. So it is good and fun all round. Get the Ruby Red Roll. Killer!
The Buff Restaurant has been around a long time, pumping out killer breakfasts and lunches and their new location is great. I like their skillets a lot. The food is fresh and the portions are huge!
I recently met up with some buddies at Slice Works in Denver before a Rockies game. We went to the one in Capital Hill. They have one in Lodo too. This place is very unassuming but it is real deal pizza and the rest of the Italian dished are incredible. I couldn’t believe it. The Italian Meatballs in Marinara were outstanding. Super casual place. Downstairs is short order and upstairs is sit down with a nice bar. Go!
I love Southern California and I love Manhattan Beach. Cool little beach town just south of the L.A. airport. The North End Caffe is a super chill short order joint serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had the turkey sandwich which looks good but not extraordinary. Until you take a bite. The ingredients are so fresh starting with the bread, which is key. It’s chewy in a so good kind of way. When it came I first thought it was weird that the turkey was only in the middle but as the bread compacts down it just wraps around everything inside. Like a killer hoagie. Was a nice little find only a few blocks from the beach.
Just go! Really. Go! The Tasting Kitchen has it all going on. It is on Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach which is such a cool street. Great food and shopping and the people watching is pretty fun too. It has a great relaxed atmosphere with delicious food and great craft cocktails, beer and wine. I like to sit in the bar and eat. The head bartender has won competitions. He made me a killer margarita (with one big ice cube which I love) and I had a wonderful pasta. Love this place. I will go back again and again and again!
I recently had dinner at Tar & Roses in Santa Monica and really enjoyed it. It’s a small and quaint place with a good atmosphere. Casual but nicely done, which I like. I was with 2 other people and we had a bunch of small plates which we shared which was fun and the food was excellent! For alcohol they are beer and wine only and they have a very nice selection. Pictured is the Blue Crab Crostini. Ridiculous! Go here and get it!
