Portland, Maine is a port town on Costco Bay and it is a beautiful cool little town that has become home to many incredible restaurants that are considered some of the best in the country. If you are a foodie then this is a must destination although be prepared for cold winters. It is also home to one of the best bakeries in the country. Standard Baking Co. is fantastic and is a 2017 James Beard Award Semifinalist. Everything is really good but the croissant is a must. Handcrafted and baked throughout the day in a 12-ton, stone deck oven, you’ll find traditional French baguettes, hearty German Vollkornbrot, fragrant Focaccia, and all-organic Miche, made from 100% Maine grown and milled whole grains. Hand-rolled croissants, pain au chocolat, brioche, and scones, are prepared in plain view in our open production bakery and often served still warm from our ovens. Everything we make embodies our commitment to artisanal methods, natural ingredients and delicious food.
